Pirouettes while club passing

How do you do 360 pirouettes while club passing?


For this workshop we'll be working with beatmap as it can notate both
passing patterns and pirouettes easily.

Objects:
clubs
jugglers' orrientation

Manipulators:
(Left hand, Right hand | Left hand, Right hand |
Juggler 1 facing juggler 2, Juggler 2 facing juggler 1)
(A,B|C,D|M,N)



Rules:
360 degrees of a pirouette takes two beats to complete. 
Patterns start with both jugglers facing each other


A rough guide on how to throw the clubs:
Throw values	Spins
1		Zero (a hold)
2		Single
3		Double
4		Triple
5		Quad



This is what the basic passing patterns look like in beatmap:

6 club 2 count:

(2x,1|2x,1)+
(1,2C|1,2A)


7 club 2 count:

(2x,1|1,3A)+
(1,3C|2x,1)


And to notate a pirouette, a juggler goes from looking towards the
center of the pattern, to the direction behind them, and back to
the center of the pattern again.


(0,0|0,0|1,1)+	Both jugglers face each other
(0,0|0,0|1,2)+	Juggler 2 starts the pirouette
(0,0|0,0|1,0)+	Juggler 2 half way through the pirouette
(0,0|0,0|1,1) 	Back to normal.


Juggler 1 pirouette:

(0,0|0,0|1,1)


Both Pirouette

Now all we need to do is combine the pirouettes with the passing patterns.
It is actually very simple. The first trick is going to be a 6 club 2 count
with a single pirouette by juggler 1. The juggler can innitiate this trick without communicating with their partner,
as long as the partner doesn't keep blindly
throwing clubs in
a set rhythm. Instead the partner must wait for an incoming
pass before making a self throw.

Juggler 1 throws two double passes. Once juggler 2 catches the first double
they throw two double passes back again. This gives juggler 1 enough time
to do a pirouette.


In 7 club two count the principle is the same but juggler 1 must make THREE
higher passes in a row, this time on triples. Juggler 2 will pass three triples
back again.

Both of these patterns can be done continuously with both jugglers
pirouetting in turn. I won't show the transitions into and out of these
patterns from the normal 2 count patterns, you can probably see where they 
join up to the patterns notated above.


6 club continuous pirouettes:

What about both jugglers pirouetting at the same? This is easy to do but,
of course, both jugglers must know in advance what and when they are
going to do it. 


6 club, 2-up, dual pirouette:

Technical club passing teams like Vova and Olga Galchenko also do 4-up
and 6-up pirouettes when passing 6 clubs. When they do a 6-up dual pirouette
they pass with both left and right hands so not only are all the clubs in
the air when they pirouette but they are also being thrown to the other 
partner. A sick trick. It looks a bit like this:

Vova and Olga also do pirouettes in the synchronous 8 club "double pass,
double self" pattern. This is the 4-up variation:

One of their sickest tricks is a 10 club, 6-up dual pirouette. On their
WJF DVD Vova and Olga do three of these in a row without stopping, probably
some of the most impressive juggling I have ever seen!

Keep in mind that the guide at the top of the page, showing what throw
values have what spin, is a rough guide. When doing the 10 club dual
pirouette, Vova and Olga do the basic pattern all on doubles, not triples
as the (1,4C|1,4A) would suggest. If you do 7 club 2-count with singles passes
for the throw height of 3, just throw a double for a 4 and a triple for a 5.
