Adding decorations to clubsLittle Paul - 6th February, 2004. "...whilst at the bjc I bought myself 6 new clubs, and 6 decks to put on the clubs, but am having some trouble applying them nicely to theclubs, i keep on getting air bubbles, or cant apply them straight (thats the main problem)."
When it comes to applying them straight, it's tricky but I've always found that if the club has a seam running the length of the club, using that to line up the decos gives you better results than most. As for air bubbles, just don't rush it! Stick he deco down a bit at a time, using a soft cloth to smooth it down, a little care and it'll work lovely. "And also, as the clubs are like a cone at each end (obviously), and I want to put some tape round the edges of the decks, then this becomes really messy as well with loads of air bubbles, as the tape is straight, and the club isnt." If you're using pvc tape, then it's not a roblem. Just stretch the tape a little as you apply it (see above for "don't rush it, work a bit at a time!" advice for anti-airbubbleness :-) If you're not using pvc tape and are instead using some kind on tape which doesn't have any stretch in it at all, consider switching to a tape which does. Most club manufacturers use pvc tape for finishing, I've always figured that they know what they're doing and use it for a reason ;-) -Paul view in thread mode or date mode post a new message23rd Feb 2008 Electrical Tape I just wrap my clubs with scotch decorate and repair tape--like electrical tape--and then do a clear layer on top. Cheap and looks swell. You can get it at Michaels or A.C.Moore. |
