Agents

Steven Ragatz - 1st January, 1990.

Wee needs agents beecause wee are harteests!

I love agents (in general). I hate dealing with gig details. I'll gladly pay to have someone else do it for me. I'll take care of the parts that I am good at - hitting the boards. Let someone else deal with the client. %20 to make the gig involve one contract, one phone call, one appearance? Deal!

Careful about long term stuff though. I have never worked through an agent for long term shows. If I am contracting with a show for six months, then I am going to be dealing with the production company allot, and unless my agent wants to go on tour with me and be the one to talk to the director, then I leave them out of the loop.

I have never signed exclusively with anyone. I have never met and agent who was worth it. Exclusive contracts are evil.

Anyway, you may never need an agent. If you are good, you will always find work. Usually, the next gig comes from some contact made at the last gig...
